India has the largest adolescent population in the world, 253 million, and every fifth person is between 10 to 19 years. Limited access to comprehensive SRHR information, taboos, societal norms, and inadequate awareness contribute to risky behaviors, unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and increased vulnerability to sexual abuse and exploitation. The unique cultural scenario has left adolescents with no one to turn to regarding their concerns on SRH. Nearly 95.5% of women are unaware of the MTP (Amendment) Act and most women lack access to crucial information about their sexual and reproductive health. ASHAs are the main sources of sexual and reproductive health information (62%). However, even frontline works including ASHAs and ANMs are unaware of the laws governing SRHR in India.
Our work enables women and men to choose when and how many children they want and to improve the quality of life for themselves and their families. Join us in creating a world where every child is wanted, and every woman is healthy.
